about

Disney Princesses is the sprawling and cinematic new single from Melbourne's' S:Bahn. A first taste of the forthcoming LP: Love Songs that is locked in for a Vinyl release in April 2024.

On the recording the part of Susan is played by Louise Love (from post-pop band Roles), there's also a cameo from Pianist Steve Boyle.

Taken as a dedication to the city's Northside, or a celebration of the archetypal ex-girlfriend Disney Princesses is at its core a love song, unraveling over its 6 minutes into an epic fade out to rival that of Hey Jude.

lyrics

A Box of shells, a picture of the Queen
A beer mat with half a badly written poem on
Pirouettes, cigarettes, traces of tourettes
When just out of reach is the closest you can hope to get.

She speaks in tongues she speaks in code,
Slow strokes in deep water where the current is slow.
A letter sealed with the stamps on unposted.
The smell of her scent, on the jacket she left in my room

Susan says, from Hoddle street to Sydney road
Susan says, from Vic parade to Bell street
Susan says , this town is a poem
This town is a love song
Susan says she thought I was different
Susan says she could do so much better
Susan says she needs some time to think
Shes gonna spend a couple of days at her sisters

I learned Susan had a theory, about pretty much everything really
leaving like the best dreams when real life comes to intervene
I Watch the rain across windows and the garden
All the meanings changed when the colours are drained.

The burning flesh of Disney princesses
confessed under torture condemned as witches
a minor earthquake out near Nunawading
slow news day did the washing and the shopping

Susan says, from Hoddle street to Sydney road
Susan says, from Vic parade to Bell street
Susan says , this town is a poem
this town its a love song
Susan says shes disappointed
Susan says she expected so much more
Susan says she just needs some space
Shes gonna spend a couple of days at her sisters

[Give me a chance
all words in caps. all words underlined.
give me an inch,
give me all the space and give me all the time

Every single sound
every time you sigh and move your tongue
each time your lungs contract
more words more words more words more words]
